South Africa Wildlife

Sabi Sands Reserve in South Africa provided exceptional wildlife interactions. Adjacent to Kruger National Park, the reserve allows for off-roading capabilities while Kruger restricts driving to paved roads. As you can tell by my images, and the eye contact I made, we got close and intimate with the animals. In addition to safari, we traveled to the coast seeking whales and penguins.

My favorite leopard.
Cheetahs--very rare to find a group of cheetahs like this in the area we were in. So close I could pet the mom on the head and say "nice kitty."
Lion--after finishing lunch. Having a bad hair day, and certainly didn't like me watching him eat.
Vervet monkey-his or her coat is so clean and nicely combed.
Zebras-loved the awkward little guy
Lilac-breasted Roller. So pretty.
Young elephant also in its awkward phase like the zebra. He had a deer in the headlights look when our vehicle stopped nearby.
African penguins at the tip of the continent
Southern Right Whale--I was hoping for a breach, but the best I got was this tail.
Greater Kudu munching breakfast.
Lion Cubs. Moms were taking good care.

Cape Buffalo--the herd was huge!
Hooded vulture-very rare
Guinea Fowl. I love the way it wraps its wing around its body, like a shawl.
Cheetah. I can't decide my favorites. Leopards or cheetahs:)
White rhinos: horns removed to save the animals from poachers.
Wildebeests-notice the legs in sync.
Early evening stroll. Impalas and zebras.

Bushbuck. This little guy was at the sliding glass door of my room, waiting for me to enter, and to watch.

A morning walk. Hard to believe but at first it was difficult to see her within the trees.
The dinner we kept interrupting.
Giraffe--guess he will have to move on to another tree.
